Blog Twirling?

You can find them on most street corners on a sunny day. They’re usually smiling, bobbing their heads to the music, and….sign twirling. I have to admit, there have been a few times that I almost rear-ended the car in front of me because I was enthralled with this new performance art.  Check this video out!

These guys are the attention grabbers that snap you out of your zombie state-of-mind on the drive home from work. The average American sees over 3,000 advertisements a day and we usually don’t even notice them. But, we do notice a young guy dancing on a street corner with a sign as tall as he is.

The purpose of these performers is to steal your attention and then direct you to a location, service or website. And frankly, they do a great job at it.

Blogs are used for the same purpose. They catch the consumer’s attention by highlighting a new service, offering discounts for products or just simply entertaining the viewer.

So, what is a blog? Wikipedia defines it: “A blog (a portmanteau of the term web log) …most good quality blogs are interactive, allowing visitors to leave comments and even message each other… Indeed, bloggers do not only produce content to post on their blogs but also build social relations with their readers and other bloggers. “

Today’s consumers are smart. They know how, when and where to find good deals. When a buyer is considering making a purchase, they do their research. That research is usually done online. Nine times out of ten, the search begins with; you guessed it, Google. (check out this fun trick)

When a user does a Google search, a ‘Googlebot’ cruises the internet and looks for keywords relevant to the search.  The more keywords and links off of your website you have, the better your chances are of being listed at a higher listing on Google’s results page. Linking from your company’s website to a blog, greatly increases your chances of being “crawled” by Google.

What does this mean for you? It means greater visibility to your online consumers, professional credibility, and an interaction with your potential buyers on a more personal level.
